    Balsa block

Yes I think it is. When you say a quick with a southern drawl it kind of does sound that way! Lol and the more common name they use down chincoteague is Cottonwood.

    Balsa block

I'm not sure where you're located, but it grows literally like a weed all throughout the mid Atlantic. When possible I like Forrest grown Polonia from the northern part of its range. It tends to have tighter growth rings and straighter grain I do believe once you get south of Virginia it's...

    Sneakbox identification needed

Many sneak boxes from the 1920s up through the 80s and 90s featured Sawn Ribs construction. It is a pretty common feature especially once makers had access to ban saws and commercial lumber yards. Is the boat all the cedar planking or is there any plywood construction in the deck etc.?

    What's on your workbench? July

Hi Richard, it's a 78 CJ five. 304 V8, T 18 granny gear transmission. I owned five or six jeeps over the years including several with the 258. I've had this '5 since 1996. It's amazing how fast the years past and it's easy to get behind on routine maintenance when you have so many other irons...

    What's on your workbench? July

Thought I would get this months thread started. I've been working on some wintertime ruddy ducks Plus a little bit of wrenching on the old CJ. It's been 20 years since she's had a good going over. Rebuilding the carb, distributor, and water pump.

    AA Blackjack Floor Repairs

I used to be a big advocate of foam. After ripping out my share of waterlogged foam from many different boats I now prefer to use a sealed flotation compartment with some type of watertight hatch. That way you can access the area if need be. If you're worried about condensation an innertube or...

    Did you guys know....

Yes it's pretty amazing. I found it the year I got married, and decided to build a duckboat after I nearly died using a Canoe on the Delaware bay in January! The boat and the marriage remain intact!😂

Very Interesting Documentary on Louisiana Coastal Habitat Loss

Wow, that is interesting. Interesting and sad. We are dealing with a similar situation in our coastal marshes in New Jersey. Especially on the Delaware bay where we have thousands upon thousands of acres of salt marsh. Even as little as 50 years ago there were brackish water ponds inside this...

    What's On Your Workbench -June

Thanks my friend! Yes it's definitely neat to do something different. End it actually continues a long tradition of making Flickr Decoys. The eastern shore of Maryland has had them for over a century, they were often put on telephone poles and shot during the fall for food. They call them...
