Has anyone steam bent wood on this forum?

Richard, that's it. You can trace the curve onto an adjacent board with it.

Has anyone steam bent wood on this forum?

Richard I said "use a scribe" but what I meant was use carpenter's dividers to scribe a line that follows the curve. I wasn't clear enough in my wording. Yes, you got the bungee cord usage like I meant.

Guenther Garvey or Whistler or what is this?

Ed The first does in fact look like Megargee's Whistler which is the same as the "Gunning Jon boat" in Zack Taylor's Successful Waterfowling. I don't believe the second is a Devlin. Could have been built from other plans or even a home brew design. The write-up on that second one makes me...

If only Al Hansen were here to educate all of us. He was a long-time member of duckboats.net before you guys came on board and may have been one of the most knowledgeable people on the subject of Mexican ducks. You can search his old posts for information from a man that studied waterfowl...

Any duckboat's only as good as its trailer

Well, that clearly answers the question. Thanks. A hunting partner of mine has a boat with nylon web thatch rails and I was suspect at first that they would not hold camo as firmly as the wood ones do. He stuffed them tight, and I don't think lost any camo after quite a bit of trailering. My...

Any duckboat's only as good as its trailer

Steve What hardware are you using to attach the thatch straps? The straps look spiffy. Again, a wonderful write-up on the trailer work and the boat is first rate too as we've grown accustom to all that comes out the doors of your shop.

    Mullins Pressed Steel Boats

Here's the Mullins info I've been trying to get on the site. The video has received a lukewarm response on IG. That kind of surprised me as I thought there would be more interest in these boats. Maybe the things that interest me are becoming too narrow in appeal. My time may be better spent...

Has anyone steam bent wood on this forum?

I have not steam bent but I have made bent laminations. Looking at your hull I think you can dry bend as the curves are long and gentle. If you want to bend the nose area one solution is to make the keelson in two pieces. One shorter one for the tight radius, until it eases into the flatter...

Any duckboat's only as good as its trailer

Oh boy that axle and springs. That pictures really shows how saltwater does a number on unprotected steel. There are a ton of great tips in your write-up. Thanks for showing them. One thing I'll add to your great photo-essay I've learned from setting up countless trailers is to get the bow...

Punt and Punt Gun For Sale

William I don't think there is much data to base a price on. It will come down to what the seller has in it and how motivated the seller and buyer are. If the buyer is from this site and wants to share that info I'm all ears!
