    Who Is In The Wrong?

Jeff, I see the similarities, but I was pointing out that the corner crossers were trying to prove a point about public land access while the others were "hunters" trying to monopolize the X. Both case have one group trying to gain advantage or exclude the other party from a public resource. I...

    Who Is In The Wrong?

There is a slight similarity but corner crossing case is distinctly different in my opinion. It was to prove that private landowners couldn?t deny access to public land. BHA and other pro-hunter groups are supporting the ability to access public land for hunting and fishing.

    Who Is In The Wrong?

Thanks Dave, I didn?t check the legal definition but was expressing my opinion of what I saw as the logical outcome of placing their blind on the property line. I?ve seen similar set ups on boundaries of refuges where it would be illegal to enter to retrieve downed birds.

    Who Is In The Wrong?

Dave, it may fall within the law in NoDak to go on land to retrieve game where you don?t have permission to enter, but setting up intentionally on the property line is in my opinion, asking for this sort of altercation. I am in no way supporting the irrationally irate landowner either.

    Who Is In The Wrong?

The A frame would stick out more in the bean field. They are using the corn stubble background as a backdrop to breakup the outline of the blind. If they dropped a bird behind the blind they would have had to trespass to retrieve it. My point remains is both parties felt like they deserved...

    Who Is In The Wrong?

The way I see it is both parties suffer from greed. Parking your blind on the property line is pushing the issue. They had to be on that spot because they had an A frame blind but they could have moved. The landowner also had so much greed he couldn?t act in a civil manner. The combined greed...

    panel saw in shop

The cool people on youtube throw a sheet of closed cell foam board on the floor and cut their sheet goods down to size with a Festool track saw at about half the cost of a decent table saw. I break mine down on the table saw. I can't say that I enjoy it but thats how I do it.

    Hurricane Ian

Good luck Carl and other Floridians. Looks like it'll hit south of you. My son in Key West says its ripping but the storm is blowing water away from his side of the island and winds are only gusting to 60 mph so far.

Sounds sporty! We canceled a trip out of Homer once when we got to the dock and the captain said ?I?ll take out in this stuff, but no guarantees I can bring you back?.

    Cormorants

I've never eaten one but have banded them and necropsied them They have lots of external parasites (feather lice) and are full of fishy smelling fat. I've always said that the penalty for illegally killing them should include mandatory cleaning and slow baking the whole carcass in your home...

    Cormorants

I read some accounts from 150 years ago that reported flocks that darkened the skies. I wasn?t there so no idea if that was common or a artifact of time and location. I have no doubt that they have learned that smolts or fish are easy pickings at dams after being concentrated or injured...

    Cormorants

Birds excrete protein waste products as uric acid instead of urea like mammals. That?s the white wash you?ve probably seen. It is common that trees under cormorant and vulture roosts to be killed by the droppings. Double-crested cormorants are a native species. What is interesting is they...

    Cormorants

I?m traveling at the moment so I?ll provide a quick response and a link. The Migratory Bird Treaty Act (treaties between US, Canada, Mexico, Japan and Russia) prohibits killing over 1000 species of migratory birds without the permission of the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The FWS has been...

Been wondering where you were or if your just up and retired. Looks like a great trip to some great country. Congrats on the bull he is a dandy. Wild that Beaver accompanied you every step of the way. Love the photos. A lot more steady than my duck dog would be. He barks at the elk on the farm.
