    New gun....just for fun

Zane - I had been looking at a Longfowler and then this gun kind of fell in my lap. These guns appear to be designed for general use....and priced accordingly. Dave

Do you have any restrictions in Jersey of what you can and cant cut down? I've heard some grasses are protected in Maryland...but darn if I can find it now in the regs. Dave

New Guy - Got a question about grassing boat

Greg, here is a pic of "panels" that I built recently. My covering is 600 Denier with sewn slots for the camo. I used four different colors of Raffia, got a small handful, bent it in a "J" shape and slid it thru the top and bottom slots. No need for wire, zip ties, string, etc. Hope this helps...

    New gun....just for fun

Thanks Carl. Yes, I think the trade went my way and I am pleased with it thus far. The gun is heavier than many of the O/Us that I have recently handled but I'm hoping that will be helpful if I decide to use this on ducks this fall. Dave

    Hooray for adult teeth.

Bob - glad to hear those "needle teeth" are gone. That's some pretty good pain those pups put up with. It looks like you two are well on your way to making a great hunting team. I'm glad to see you have a nice, designated area to work that pup. Dave

    New gun....just for fun

Well, even with a couple of negatives.....this gun shoots very nicely. I have only "played" with it with a few rounds but will put it thru the paces at the skeet range in the next few days. I have an older brother who is in the top 10 or so trap shooters in Illinois and he shoots a several...

    New gun....just for fun

Thanks for the info. This gun looks as if it hasn't had a box of shells through it. The safety feels good and moves side to side to select the upper or lower barrel. What were the exact problems you had with yours? Dave

    New gun....just for fun

I fell into a pretty good deal this week. A coworker was looking for a pump shotgun for his son and I mentioned that I had a Mossberg 500 pump that had been put away about 5 years ago. He was very interested and when I showed him pics, he said he would like to trade for it. He offered a Mossberg...

Alrighty gentlemen and any ladies that might be lurking

Dani - lots of great advice on here. If it hasn't already been said, make sure you check to see what is legal to use for a projectile. Many states will not let you use a roundball for hunting and must be a sabot. Keep us posted and good luck. Dave

    1966 Crestliner North Star project

Took the boat out Friday after work for another "shake down" cruise. Ran very strong and decided to fish for a few hours. Put about 30 perch into the boat and then took it back home for a good rinse and to bed. Today I worked on the panels some more. Decided to do a little stenciling. Once...

    No one ever went broke....

It's classified as a rare earth magnet but actually quite common. Some neodymium is used for lasers but the bulk is used for speakers, microphones, etc. Dave

    1966 Crestliner North Star project

Roy, I mounted a folding ladder on the port rear for myself, just not sure if I have the room to mount something else back there without interfering with the motor. Need to sit down with some paper, compass, slide rule.........well, at some beer.....and figure something out soon. Dave

Sure makes you think about how affordable (and easy) it is to hunt here in the states. Dave
