    Black Brant III Build

I was reading on this web site about yellow pine being a suitable wood for boat building. Says it is often substituted for white oak. Would centainly ensure it is dry if I use it. http://www.glen-l.com/wood-plywood/bb-chap5c.html#species

I got the epoxy from US Composites (medium) and the fiberglass from Raka. How much do you mix up in a batch and what would be the wood flour to epoxy ratio.

    Black Brant III Build

Started assembling the pcs. this weekend. Used sheetrock screws to secure the bulkheads. I adjusted the transom angle to be at 17 degrees as was suggested. Built the stand from scrap wood. It is probably too high. May cut it down. Need to install two more knees and it will be ready to start...

The manual says between 0-1 inch below the bottom of the boat. Where have the the other guys located the...

    Black Brant III Build

The building has begun. I did the scarfing and joining of the panels last weekend. Stacking the 4 sheets together and using planer/belt sander worked pretty good. I used T-88 epoxy to join them. It is an excellent thick epoxy that is easy to work with and tolerates poor fit ups. This weekend I...

Newbe - Black Brant III Build

Thanks for the support guys. My 1st season had a lot of disappointing misses and few hits. I got a boost today with one actually folding up and hitting the water after pulling the trigger. Very rewarding! Getting set up under the star light, watching the sun rise and the ducks flaring into the...
