    Fast and chaotic morning!

I was the guy that stopped to admire your boat when you were packing up at the boat ramp Clinton. Beautiful boat, and not something I get to see every day in Kansas. It was certainly a good day to be in the marsh.

south bay duck boat (?) on fb marketplace

Noticed what looks like a SBDB on fb marketplace today. I know nothing about this boat, just through it was worth mentioning here in case someone was on the lookout for one in the midwest. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3457751994270289

It's funny how duck boats come into our lives

I wondered where this boat ended up. Glad to see it is well on the way back to the duck marsh. Keep up the good work!

Advice for a newbie on a Devlin repair/restoration

Saturday was a good day for this boat project, first day out on a duck hunt using it what is was made for. Hunting was very slow, but I was still pretty darn happy to be out there.

Great South Bay Scooter Rehab - SEA TRIALS AT LAST !

I used the total boat lust matte varnish on the small bright finish parts of my boat restoration with good success. Worked well for a novice, and appreciated that I could get in multiple coats in one day without sanding between every time.

Dave, I've heard some mention of that option. What is the name of the product you used? Does it accept paint ok?

Thanks Brad. I read quite a few reviews and did a search here and Blue Sea seemed to be the crowd favorite.

Advice for a newbie on a Devlin repair/restoration

Thanks Kyle, look forward to see your upgrades to the now boat. I think I got the electrical panel on Amazon. I had trouble finding that specific model elsewhere. My one complaint is the 4th circuit switch runs the two outlets. I didn't read closely enough when I ordered it and was thinking I...

Advice for a newbie on a Devlin repair/restoration

Thanks Dave. The oak battery box is attached to the hull with 4200. I do plan to secure the plastic box to the oak box as well. I was planning on a strap and buckle system I had until I realized it is not even close to long enough, so I need to work out a new attachment method. So far the...

Advice for a newbie on a Devlin repair/restoration

I've been working on some smaller upgrades the last few weeks. I finished up a battery box and I also did all the electrical, including a panel box and shelf and I'm pretty close to finishing up mounting the front nav light with a small mahogany plate. The main thing I've been...

Kyle - I have not started on the grass rails yet. I've been working on electrical, battery box, shelf, front nav light, a floor, and working out something for a splash guard. I'll snap some photos tomorrow and post an update. I've also had trouble finding the right piece of wood for the grass...

Welcome Kyle. I'm getting close to finishing up a restoration project on a BBII that I purchased earlier this year. It has been a really fun project, and I'm looking forward to having the boat ready for the season. Good luck with the new boat.

    Splash guard for Devin boat?

Thanks Dave. Your pictures were the only ones I was able to find using the search function. Looks like a great design. It could be difficult with my jackplate, so I'm hoping there are some other options out there as well.

    Splash guard for Devin boat?

I'm looking for examples of splash guards on Devlin boats with a motor well. I've recently installed a jackplate to get the motor to the height it needs to be. When I set the motor height and trim to the ideal setting, I'm getting quite a bit of water splashing over the transom. I can lower...

Advice for a newbie on a Devlin repair/restoration

I went with the electric start with manual tilt/trim, model SWHC I believe. I think Yamaha has power tilt and trim listed as an option for the F25, but when I called around to ask about weight difference between the two, I believe I was told they didn't offer it on the short shaft for the 25...

Advice for a newbie on a Devlin repair/restoration

It does not have the breakaway feature. Do you think there is a benefit of having that for a manual tilt motor with a tilt lock you can switch off? It sounds like it would maybe serve the same purpose?

Advice for a newbie on a Devlin repair/restoration

I think I did see a jackplate that had trim/tilt, but I believe it was on hydraulic model that was quite a bit more of an investment than this mechanical one. I looked into factory power tilt/trim on the engine, but I think I was told it was not available on the short shaft 25 for some reason...

Advice for a newbie on a Devlin repair/restoration

Thanks Eric, it is nice to see the boat come together. I'm very ready to be able to use it, but looking forward to the projects to come. For the floor, I'm going to go with an approach similar to what Steve suggested with the supports attached to the removable floorboards for now. If it...
