Thanks Brad. I put them together tight. When we did the floors, we used the same concept, less angle thought. We also glued and screwed when we laid the floor and then I went back and plugged the holes with wooden plugs. The first wall went together good yesterday. It took a little bit of...

Thanks Dani. I agree, I couldn't believe it when he said it! An amazing journey. As for gear and supplies, most have a lot of help from family and friends and also mailing items ahead. One through hiker we spoke with was on his 3rd pair of hiking boots. He figured about 900 miles a pair...

Thanks. Yes, the floors and interior will be done from pine cut off my property down here in Shapleigh. I'm fortunate to have a father and brother who both have pretty impressive shops. It is a joy hiking with my daughter, she's in Illinois currently so we make the most of our time when...

Wiring and getting the first floor kitchen and living area ready for sheetrock and the pine. That's where I'll leave it. The pine is up there and ready for installation on the walls. More pictures to follow after that is done and a couple grouse and northern zone ducks have been fooled.

My daughter and I did a little hiking one day. We summited Saddleback Mountain which is the ski area mountain in the region and also part of the Appalachian trail. While up there on the summit, we met a couple Appalachian trail through hikers (a through hiker is one that does the trail in...

Making some shavings at my father's shop. Milling rough cut pine that will be used for the interior wall finish. All the boards came from trees I had cut off my property. I put a 45 edge on the boards instead of trying to make shiplap. I did the same for the floor last year...

Time for another update, this is year 4 on the 5 year plan. I still have a couple weekends of work to do but this gets us close. This summer was sporadic at getting up to camp and all weekends were not spent working on it, some we played. Here are some pictures of the gable end trim work...

    Some "new" old cork decoys.

Hey Bob, I didn't know you were on this forum or else I would have credited you in the original post. Thanks again, looking forward to meeting you and looking at those eiders in a week or so. Troy

    Some "new" old cork decoys.

I'm always looking for older cork decoys that are just waiting for another opportunity to fool some more fowl. I came across these Maine carved corkers with pine heads a couple weeks ago and finally got them home today. The gentleman carved these for his personal use and is now getting out of...

    Shell Shortage

Tough times to buy ammo for certain. I'm fortunate to have a couple cases of BOSS, as well as some steel that I found on various auction sites and Uncle Henry's (which is a Maine site) where internet advertising and sale of guns and ammo is still allowed. I was in Cabela's here in Maine this...

Hi Al, Good to hear from you. I hope all is well with you and Bev. Pearl will be going into her 10th season in another month. She turns 10 in Feb 2022. It doesn't seem possible she'll be that old, she has brought so much joy in those years and still has so much enthusiasm. Just a great...
