    Round chines on pole boats

    Can you guys tell me the purpose of rounded chines on pole boats such as the KARA or 4Rivers boats? I built a KARA and way to heavy, so I thought a stitch-and-glue type boat would be alot lighter, but seems like your limited to square chines. Wouldn't square chines make such a boat...
