    Binoculars are good. Duck ID booklet has come in handy, or bird field guide. Lots of little birds around to identify. Warm/dry clothes are a must. My 9 year old daughter has been going since she was 6, at least a few days per year, and loves it. Let them help with decoys. Show them the stars...

    Buying Waders

    I'd absolutely go with breathable waders (Gore Tex, Dry Plus, etc.) I tried neoprenes for years and all I did was swet, even in ice conditions, which made me colder. I have an 8-year old pair of Gander Mtn. breathable waders that have made it through warm and cold days (20 to 80 degrees)...

    Help! mud motor vs other options?

    Thanks guys! I figured mud motors would handle the weeds but wasn't sure. Apparently the prop on those buggers chews the weeds up and they don't wrap around the shaft. Now, what type to get? I'd like to get one with reverse but not sure how they rate.

    We hunt in a back bay and river area that has TONS of weeds, from wild rice and lilly pads to pickeral reed and just plain lake weeds. They can quickly tie-up and stop a regular outboard, so we're thinking about other options. We have enough water in most cases. How do short-shaft mud motors...
