That’s a beauty I haven’t heard of. I’m a member of your museum and a huge fan of Mac. Thanks for adding to the history!

    You can, you cannot

Some people can taste and some can’t. Kind of like artistic ability. divers that eat plants are a lot better than dabblers that eat minnows and snails. dabblers are for tourists

    Grumman Sport Boat--HP recommendation?

I’m surprised no one mentioned “just because you have a 15 hp doesn’t mean you have to use it all” Im a big fan of sportboats and there are some trade offs. If speed or heavy loads are the top priority it seems like people like 8-15hp. If trolling while fishing is top priority you probably...

    Lund Ducker Transom update

I would cut the inside plywood to fit the entire inside transom wall and the outside plywood to span the whole width of the transom. Start with that as a minimum and watch for flexing, signs of rivets getti loose, etc. Mudmotors put a lot of pressure on a transom. The transom on my sportboat...

    I Need A Vehicle Change...

I’m planning to get a 70s-80s suburban for my next truck. I can’t stand the price or gizmos on new vehicles

    Aluminum version of Gheenoe?

Was it a square stern Grumman canoe or was it a Grumman sportboat? I don’t mind standing and running a mudmotor in my sportboat but my center of gravity is a little lower.

Weapon for Shooting Beaver at Night

sounds like you have plenty of experience but since it wasn’t already stated I’ll say this for anyone who doesn’t know: beaver control is simply an ongoing process, especially when theres no money in it for the sport trappers. they are tough, I don’t think 22s have enough snort

    New Skeet gun rec?

Why buy a cow if you can get the milk for $10?! You’d have to rent the Benelli 100 times to break even and a used 20ga 1100 seems to run the same price as a new Benelli 20ga. I would definitely pick a 20 over a 12ga for clay targets.

    Life vest recommendations

Be sure to check the temperature rating for inflatable PFDs. The one I owned and the ones I?ve looked at said not to use in temps below freezing. My inflatable had two mysterious deployments while in storage and I pitched it. I use standard life jackets with mesh shoulders for comfort and...

Sometimes you just have to shake your head in disgust...

These types of activities are nothing new. A small percentage of the population will do unethical things to their advantage. Odds are it?s intentional. Maybe a nice note on the windshield would enlighten the person but for the most part I think it?s just a person pushing the envelope because...

Need Suggestions -- A-Frame Like Blind for edge of marsh for season

Roy has it right. Just tip the top 12? in at a 45* angle and zip tie a ?firewood tarp? between the grass mats and cattle panel for a wind break. Use stout posts

    Something different

I have a friend in Louisiana who is not happy about the black belly whistling ducks taking over his wood duck boxes. Hope they taste better than the hooded mergansers that are taking over the wood duck boxes in Minnesota !

    Battery operated chainsaws

I have a Stihl 170 that I like a lot for miscellaneous odds and ends. Granted, you said electric and the Stihl 170 is mixed gas, but it was only $170 or so and it really does everything I want it to. My dad?s DeWalt electric chainsaw is pretty darn good. Only problem I know is that the chain...

    2 3/4 shells

It mostly depends on your opportunities. If you have abundant opportunities relative to the number of ducks you?d like to eat, there?s no real need for 3? shells. You?ll be able to wait for the shots that are lethal with 2 3/4? shells. I don?t think there?s any question that a 3? shell with...

    Alumacraft Ducker

I really don?t see it selling at 90 pounds. I?d have to see one to decide if I was interested at 40-60 pounds. Are we talking about the quality of a pelican brand two part plastic kayak or more like an old town otter/loon keyak? Just the word plastic makes me cringe. Sorry. If you want to do...

max hp on 12' Herter's glass duck boat

Regarding trolling motors.... Does someone have a source for a ?lightweight? deep cycle battery? A good old Johnson or Evinrude 3hp with weedless lower weighs about 40 lbs and has self contained gas tank. It?s about the perfect duck motor IMO. I like the silence of a trolling motor but the...
