First duck hunt, first shot, first bird, first band. Is that a lucky kid or what? His father and I probably have 50 years of duck hunting experience between as and neither of us has ever shot a band.
That's the way I got started, too -- many, many years ago. Before you know it, he will have a carport full of boats, a shed full of decoys, and a house full of mounted ducks.
Congrats! What a great hunt- I have that feeling a year-old... still fresh! First duck, first shot, first memory. (No band!) Loved shooting my first duck, and look forward to upcoming hunts again soon!
very nice ron, no industrial cleaner made to clean that grin off his face, huh? he will learn soon enough if he doesnt already realize it , that those are few and far between.
Robert, if I had mentioned that we are in south Florida then I am sure you would have known it was a mottled duck. From the pic it sure does resemble a black.
Congrat's. I had a kid out on our Youth Hunt at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge last year and he shot his first duck and goose that day. Guess what, both were banded. I told his father he better go buy a lottery ticket. Great job on your first duck. HHG
