Here are a few pictures of the season we only have about a week left so I plan to hunt everyday this upcoming week. Even though it was a slow season I still had a great time, made new friends and shot some birds that's a good season in my book. Looking at my pictures I see I need to take more pictures I will start taking the camera in the boat. I had a lot of firsts this season first woody, goose, and both green and blue wing teal. Its gonna be a long 9 months till next season. Already planning to build a pond box this summer.

And a NJ Coastal limit of my one black duck. Hope you enjoyed the pics I need to take more pictures. I hunt solo a lot so I don't think about pictures till I get home. Hope everyone had a good safe season. Thanks to all of you who helped and encouraged me along the way with my sneakbox rebuild and answering all my silly questions you all helped me have a great season with my new BBSB.

Glad I got to help with some of those 1st. I think it was almost as much fun watching you take your 1st goose as it is shooting one myself..........MAYBE!
We didn't set the world on fire, but we had some good days. Made a lot of new friends, hunted some new places, new boats and shot a few new species. Got my 1st Blue-wing teal, gadwall (w/ Chris) and ringneck (w/ Mike Collier). Can't forget the chance to hunt with Lady M. Overall it was a good season.

Now I just need to get Chris on his 1st field hunt and we both need our 1st Snows

Kevin was a big help this season helping me and teaching me things about duck hunting I didn't know I had onnly hunted salt marshes and he showed me a different style of hunting. We hunted his 2 man sneakbox and that thing rocks. Hhunting solo can be a drag sometimes and his set up let's 2 guys hut side by side in the traditional way over the motor. Really like that roomy sneakbox. Looking foward to the feild goose hunt that will be another first that Kevin helped me with.

Chris, you have some great shots here. Thanks for posting them. You had some good success with the black ducks. I sure liked your duck boat. That looks to be fun. Just think how much you will look forward to next year's season. Good luck this coming week.
Al

Awesome post, I love to see a bunch of firsts. Let's me live vicariously thru you. Good luck on finishing out your season. Looks like you had the same type of summer weather we had over her all season. First measurable snowfall fell yesterday and both duck and goose are closed for the season... :(

Yeah we had a really warm season we only had one day with ice. By december we get ice and most of the fresh water ponds are frozen and that pushes the birds to the salt marshes. This time last year half the bay was frozen and all the salt ponds were froze so we hunt the wider creeks that don't freeze. This year no ice. So the birds are scattered all over and not pushed to the salt marshes. Hope next year is more like a duck season weather wise.

That's not my truck its Kevin's but its a good truck for hauling the boats. It was my first year with the sneakbox and I really love that style of hunting. It gets you up close to the birds. Those sneakboxes disapear in the marsh. Also it felt great to hunt a boat that I put so much time and sweat into. Its a really good feeling in a rebuilt sneakbox only next to building a boat from scratch.

I'm jealous of your rig especially your truck, I miss my 96.

It's a '90. It ain't pretty, but it runs. Figure nobody will bother with an old rusty truck at the ramp.

Next season you make sure the birds on your side on the border get down here on schedule and the truck is yours.

Chris,

I REALLY enjoyed your pictures and story.

I have a BBSB too. I guess I'm going to have to get her out and dress her up for next year.

My first double was a pair of Green Wing Teal also. As a matter of fact, they were my first ducks!

Get yourself one of those little snap-shot cameras. It'll fit neatly in your bag, you'll have it when you need it.

You're going to have to start carving your own decoys now. Hunting out of your boat that you put soo much into, AND decoys you carved... Doesn't get any better than that!

Looking forward to seeing more!

Jon

Thank you. I keep thinking of trying my hand at decoys. I know one day I will start its only a matter of time.
