A few pictures

It has been unusually warm and we are starting to see a bit of open water. As usual, find water and you will find birds.

These photos were shot at midday over great distance with a 150-600 mm lens and it was blowing at 40 mph. Please excuse the quality.

A real mixed bag...

One of these things is not like the others. That is a very confident wigeon.

Nice sprig on that one.

The goldeneyes are always among the first to move through.

There were a few redheads in the mix.

These guys swam relatively close me.

Paul:
Great pictures with great definition on a gunners' day with that smoking wind--I assume out of the west or north. Thanks so much.

Any time you can take pictures like this, no excuses necessary! Wonderful job with that camera and lens, Paul. I happen to like those diver pictures. Not something that I see down here. Now you have me all ready for the next batch that you will be showing.

Spring is such a great time of the year. Good to see that life cycle getting into high gear.

Almost more GEs in that one pic than I have seen in my whole duck hunting career!

There were around 50 on the bit of open water. I have seen several hundred once the ice melts here. They stage up waiting for the thaw to occur farther north.

Enough of the prairies. I'm heading into the mountains for the afternoon.
