A sobering experience - NDR

My wife and I were kind of ragged out from weekend festivities, so we decided to go out for dinner instead of staying in and doing it ourselves. I didn't want to go to the same old places, so I went to TGI Friday's for a change of pace. Dinner was pretty good and we got out of there about 8:30 and headed home. Just before ten the local news broke in and said that there'd been a shooting at a local Huntsville restaurant and promised more info at 10:00. It seem that, about a half hour after we left, one of the patrons drew a handgun and shot everyone at the table. Killed one and wounded three.
We learned this afternoon that his motive for shooting everyone was that he didn't like some guy at an adjoining table 'looking at his girlfriend'.
I hope that all of you have a safe and Merry Chirstmas and nothing like this event darkens your door. Remember, even if you don't get everything on your list this Christmas season, to be thankful for what you do have and that it hasn't been taken from you.

Wow....glad you and yours missed that. Timing is everything in life; sometimes good, sometimes bad. Thankful your timing was good.
Best wishes for a Merry Christmas.

Glad to hear you are OK. Not to be the wuss or anything but you may want to talk to someone about what happened to you as it will come back at some time.

A few years back I was in a foreign country conducting some business. I was with a well travelled individual who saw something funny occurring at the front of the restaurant we were having dinner at (my back was to the door, he was facing it). He said to me to get ready to run - fast. Just then he tipped our table over and said "get down". About that time I heard to sound of automatic gun fire. Nothing hit our table but the shooting stopped. We looked up to see the bartender holding a gun and pointing it at a man who had the auto still clutched to his chest laying dead on the floor. An older lady was dead as well and a couple of others injured. We had to step over the dead man on our way out of the restaurant which we quickly left.

Never heard anything more about that incident. It has stayed with me after all these years and was quite tramatic. They say your life passes in front of you very fast when something like this happens and I'm hear to tell you that it is true except it seemed to go by real fast in slow motion if that makes any sense.

Most scared I have ever been in my life.

Not good. I met someone for lunch in the early 90's in NYC and they said, "did you hear what happened? I said no, what?"... well, the WTC was bombed.

I left the World Trade Center to go to the lunch meeting and by the time I got out of the building, into a cab and on my way to lunch, it was bombed. I missed it by 15 minutes Thank God.

You're right guys, don't take anything for granted, I know I don't.

WOW!! Thank god for small miracles !!! Glad you were not involved.

Just another example of where the scum of this world is taking us. More importantly another example of why we as law abiding citizens need to take responsibility for our own protection. Things like this happen so fast, law enforcement typically shows up in time to do the paper work. I am not, in any way, shape, or form, disregarding the work of out nations LE community, I applaude and support them greatly, but they can't can't be everywhere all the time.

Bill, glad to hear you missed the exitement.
on a side note, this guy didn't like the way someone was looking at his girlfriend . Now he's gonna BE somebodys girlfriend.

Bill - Glad to hear you were gone before all hell broke loose.

JWKing - Good point, what a fool. He'll certainly get his share of "love and attention" from some hardcore folks in the pen.

It's amazing that people can get that excited over someone 'looking' at their girlfriend.

Hunt Safe.

Yep.
21 year old with no values. Goes from protecting 'his property' to being some inmates property in prison until such time as they return the favor.......

Heard this morning that the reason the guy form the other table was talking to his girl was that they were related (victim and the killer's girl were cousins). Guy with the gun "wasn't playing that, home boy"

Cracked me up with that one Lee, finding the silver lining.

I'm not sure that puts her on the market. I'm sure you've seen in the news where an inmate gets married while in prison so there's still hope for this relationship. And he has certainly shown that he is committed...

Lee. We generally troll for dates at weddings and family reunions here in Alabama, not funerals.

But, whatever floats your boat..............
