I'm a believer 2 years ago I used it goose hunting and have not used any other round since. I use a 12 ga with 31/2 ,but no cripples . It's sure is a superior round for sure. Good luck with tour hunt

Shot it in 12 gauge 3" #2 and #3 most of this past duck season and I have been really happy with it. The mixed shot really does seem to give a denser pattern and usually everything I hit with it came down stone dead. I noticed that with the denser patterns I had a lot more hits in the head of birds and that really seemed to cut down on crippling, in fact cripples were really rare. I personally think it's worth the extra money! Good luck on your hunt!

I still have enough Hevi-Shot stockpiled that I have not tried it. However, my kids use it in their 20 gauges on ducks. Very impressive. No question it is much more effective than even high velocity steel.

I tried one box of it and didn't notice any difference. Most of my shots are within 30 yards so take this for what it is worth. I currently shoot the Kent Faststeel 4 shot and can probably even move that up to 6 shot from what I've been reading.

I bought a case of 3 inch #2 Hevi-Metal two years ago for ducks, and have still not gone through the whole case yet. It works well with both my guns (browning citori waterfowl and Extrema2)!

Kristan, I used BB and BBB on Geese the last couple of years and have had pretty good success. I also am heading to Mound City on Saturday and most of the guys I am going with are taking the Heavy Metal. Are you hunting with a guide or free lancing? We are hunting with Big River Guide service Monday-Wednesday next week. Good Luck

I shot a couple of boxes this year of the Hevi-metal pheasant(only thing they had for 2-3/4) in #4 shot. It is not as good as a tungsten pellet in 6, which is what I like, but it is pretty good. I shot some snow geese with it last weekend and it seemed to work pretty well. If you have been shooting regular steel I think you will notice a difference, particularly if you commonly shoot out past about 25 yards or so. Good luck on your snow goose hunting trip.

Thanks to all with the stories of encouragement of using the Hevi-Metal on a whim! I have the back-up 10 but am trying to lighten the load on the trip by packing one gun...Patience as a virtue left my soul about 2 weeks ago...Your stories have done nothing but start and itch that won't stop until I am watching that first bird swoop into range and effortlessly glide with its head tilting back in forth looking and searching...For the first time since September Manitoba Hunting I will be in the outdoors chasing my dreams...

I will be going through a guide service...Goose Guru of Prairie "Something"...Will be in on Wednesday evening late...Will post pictures whether the hunt shows its quarry or just 7 happy faces glad not to be a work...

Regards,

Kristan

Honk when you go by and have some fun. If you end up with a guide named Joel Dunbar (not sure who he is working for) you have my permission to RoShamBo him. :)

It doesn't matter what you shoot as I am sure they will be dead when they hit the ground.

I wish I was going. Be sure to send plenty of texts and pics to rub it in even further.
