Bean head?

it doesn't look like a factory paint job



and I have a few generations of Beans mallards - none with that head

I concur - looks like no Bean I recognize.


As it turns out, I have a bird (selling for a friend) that's "all-Bean", but....Drake Mallard head on Hen Broadbill body.

Both are sound (I repaired the tail) and in original paint. I'd be happy to give you the Mallard head - I'll be back on LI next week.


Maybe I should put a McCormick head on the body ?


Anyone got a Bean's "Bluebill" head laying around ?

Here's the process over the past couple of days.


As was (original factory paint):

Sanded with 220 grit and bill marked to fine tune the design.

Primed with flat oils. Bill is my duckboat paint - Pettit Dull Dead Grass. Head is Rustoleum Flat Black.

Flat latex base coats. Head us a very dark Blue. Bill is Behr "Curry Powder".

Finish coats - ready for your body. Highlights with tube acrylics. Bill coated with satin Spar Varnish.
