Best east coast show to divest of decoys...

The next couple of years I plan to divest of my sea duck coastal rigs. I haven't been to decoy shows in a while, so I'm wondering what show would be best to focus on. I have a mix of everything from plastic to really shit cork gunners to some pretty nice cork gunners. I have absolutely no intention of shipping anything, and this is a while off so I'm not interested in talking about selling right now.

What is your suggestion of a high volume show to get a booth to liquidate some rigs? East coast within a few hours of ct?
 
Tod, it would be best to list them on FB marketplace. There are plenty of interest specific pages that would really hit your target audience. That gives you the advantage of selling off a little at a time and not putting all your decoys into a weekend or day window.

Of the shows I attend on the East Coast, none are big on seaducks. (Scoter, Eider and OS)

LI Decoy Collectors show is first weekend in March
Havre de Grace is early May
Tuckerton is September
Easton is November

Tuckerton is the hunters show.
LI, Havre de Grace, and Easton are primarily vintage decoys, with limited working blocks.
 
Thanks Dave, I didn't think of that (not a facebook user), but that sounds like the way to go. I do use Craigslist some, but thought that was a poor option.

From what I understand, craigslist is not as effective or popular anymore as facebook. You can still find great deals and such but there is a lot more scamming done these days on craigslist than facebook.

Doesn't hurt to try though.

What I prefer of FB over CL is that I can review a profile before I respond to see if it
is a real person and if I want them coming to my house!
 
Tod, I'm sure myself and Ken morris would be happy to peruse your unwanted stock when the time comes. We are both in state. Hell, Ken is very close to you. Feel free to PM me what you'd like to have disappear. You may even already have my cell if you want to just text some photos over.

In addition, I have some friends in coastal NH that are always looking for sea duck rigs. Food for thought then the time comes. One grew up down the road from your house, his family is still in the area, would be easy for him to come scoop them up.

Agreed on FB marketplace, there are many decoy groups available. I only keep FB now just for marketplace, not the other garbage on there. I haven't been to many decoy shows but most of the local ones are vintage. I believe CT waterfowl Association holds a decoy show in Westbrook in October every year as well.

If you want to go to the show route, Tuckerton is your best bet. It is still a real working hunters show. And well attended. It is always the last full weekend in September. Plus a lot of seaduck hunters in the area.

For sure I'll give first shot to locals, I'd put it here and local contacts first. It is really a huge mix, from black rattle canned plastics that just need to go to someone to get used to some very nice cedar stuff and a lot in between. I want it all gone at some point, but there is a fair amount of value there and I'd like to recoup some for the least amount of work.
