Black Brant III Cavitation Plate Location

I took some measurements of my Yamaha outboard and the transom bulkhead. It looks like the cavitation plate will be about 1.25 inch below the hull. Maybe about .5 -.75 inch below the keel. The manual says between 0-1 inch below the bottom of the boat. Where have the the other guys located the cavitation plate. Maybe I need to add some height to the transom. I cut the transom per the plans.

I cut my transom to fit my Nissan. Nissan manual said to have the cave plate 1.5 inches below the bottom of the hull. This required about 1.5 inches to be added to the transom height measurement from the plans.

Since you have already cut yours, during water testing you will want to take some wood pieces with you to raise up the motor if need be.

I will be add some height to the transom. When I get the hull built I can hang the engine and decide how much to raise it. Probably adjust the cavitation plate so it is even with the bottom of the hull. Thanks

I think it is safe to say that it is safe to plan on even with the hull bottom at the lowest and best performance may be up from there a bit.
