Boat Camo (or not)

Hi guys,

New member here. I just bought a new 18' Lowe Roughneck. It's olive drab. I am debating on giving it a camo paint job. I have read some research about olive drab and it suggests that olive drab does a great job of camoing itself. Every other boat I've had in the past I have painted, but it was almost out of necessity - they were red, brown, etc. I have looked at "Camo Clad" also. I know there are some good stencils out there, and basically the inside is what needs the camo, if anything. I don't use it on open water, mainly shore hunting rivers. Anybody have a suggestion for me either way? Much appreciated.

Thanks.

Tim

I have mud buddy boat blind, but would really like to try Cover System. I agree that a scissors blind would not require a camo job. Ideally, we park the boat along shore 50 yards away along some logs, and it blends in well (in my opinion). I am more concerned about the view from the sky.....

Thanks.

I wouldn't bother unless you really like the look.

If you are hunting away from the boat, and you want extra concealment, you would probably be better off buying some of the military style netting and throwing it over the parked boat to help the whole thing blend in better. I suspect it is the hard angles of the boat they see as unnatural rather than the color of the paint job.
