Bruno's first goose for that matter! John Vanhouten and myself hunted with Capt. Doug Heaton last monday in a cornfield down around Tuttle ND. It was pea soup fog, cold and damp, birds had trouble seeing our spread. We could hear them in the distance but couldnt see many of them. Mallards came first, Dougs yellow lab Kehleigh went out first, Bruno followed and looked back at Hootie [John} as to say, WHERE'S THE WATER DAD?. Finally the snows came, Bruno was a little bewildered by the size of the geese. It didnt take long for him to get the hang of it, and I got a shot of him with his first goose, which by the way was about a third his size and weight. For Bruno it was all business after that first one. I was impressed that a Boykin of medium size could handle these birds so well. My wife wants an American Water spaniel some day. I always felt you need a 90 lb. chessie or Lab for these birds, Guess I was wrong! Rich

Looks like one heck of hunt, nice looking pup you have there.
Good job, Bruno!

Wow! excellent hunt and experience for Bruno. I once owned a Boykin, smartest dog ever; they are amazing once they learn what you expect they perform every time. Glad you had a good time.

Way to go, Rich. Love those two pictures. That had to be fun. Good way to break in Bruno.
