Grettings-
Thinking about purchasing a bumper boy launcher-
Cant decide between the sportsman and the derby double?
I know the right thing to do is to get the derby double-but hard to justify the extra $$$

Anyone have feedback on bumper boys?
Where is the cheapest place to purchase

Thanks
Tim

Tim, i can't tell you where to buy a bumper boy cheap, but i can offer a possible cheaper alternative to the bumper boy that you may be interested in. Single-mark bumper boys can be made using a retriev-r-trainer and remote controls used in upland bird launchers (such as dogtra or tri-tronics). Lion Country Suppply (find them online) makes a metal stand that will hold a retriev-r-trainer, but it cost quite a bit. i bought one of the LCS stands and made another out of PVC and a $5 adjustable bracket i got from Home Depot, plus a low-dollar actuator(?) i got from a hobby shop. i already had the remote controls, so this was much cheaper for me compared to buying a Bumper Boy. I don't recall the final cost.

I also strapped a retriev-r-trainer on an old rifle stock and launch bumpers using it. my dog loves it!! and it got him marking off the gun and swinging with the gun. for longer marks i use the homemade bumper boys.

If you need more details, let me know and i'll try to get a few pics. you'll need to remove the electronic guts from the actuator(?) and do a little soldering to make one. don't use pipe solder, use electronic solder from radio-shack. live and learn.
