Ok this is somewhat duck related since I want to take picture of ducks cupped up on the decoys

I have / use a kodaik digital camera right not it has the large screen in back and is great BUT it does not take pictures of objects to far out a duck in the decoys litterally can't be seen (that sucks!) I have a very Nice cannon 35mm packed away with a nice zoom lens I don't even remember the zoom is but the lens is about 6 or 7 inches long and does great but it was a 35mm and I just never got the films developed they always sat in the draw so I stoped useing it and went to digital. Now I hate to spend that much for a new camera but am seriosly thinking about buying one . I looked at a kodaic digital with a 12x zoom and will do short video (about $300) but also looked at a cannon rebel XT ($698) that does Both 35 and digital and has a changeable lens so I could use my old lens for some nice long shots.

I guess these are my questions and other comment are welcome but please explain so a dumb redneck like me can understand :)

1) if you have used or own one what do you think of the cannon rebel XT camera?

2) is being able to change lens really worth wild or am I just stuck on a old fashion idea?

3) what is my old 35mm camera worth without the lens just camera and Flash unit?

4)are there any other cheaper digital cameras that I can change out lens?

Rob-

I have the XT and really like it. Might look for a 20D for about the same price now that the 30D have come out.

I also started with a 35mm Canon and still use the lens on my XT. Nice thing about the Canon SLR stuff is the lens are interchangable. I still have the 35mm Canon and can move lens back and forth if desired. Have not used the 35mm for about 3 years though.

You could look on ebay for one of the earlier digital rebels. A Rebel 2000 or similar. They are way down in price.

Good luck,
Cory

I have the Cannon Rebel EOS . 8 megepixel . I love it i have multiple lenses for it i take out in the feild with me. I have the 18-55 for close shots after the hunt, And the 100-400 canon image stabilizer Ef lense for during the hunt great for incomeing shots i also us a 2X on it with Tri pod our window mount when scouting . You can really shoot out there plus bring it home and put them on your computer and bring them in even closer . Tough and reliable i have had it in -15 temps no trouble . You can find them on line fo 600-650 . Well worth it .
