Thanks guys for the pics, I don't know why I didn't take any. Good times were had by all for sure. Got a chance to plow through the river sandbars and see what the river hunting is all about.
Mr Baldplate took a swim in the Mighty Mississippi Saturday morning. Unfortunately, none his live brethren were willing to join the party.
Saturday evening, all of us gathered around Pete's campsite for a fine dinner of Elk burgers, carrot casserole, cheese, jerky sticks and apple pie!!
Even Ginger and Booker had a chance to interact and exchange pleasantries. Cody,,,, otherwise know as "the heathen" was only allowed out when the other two were put away. Actually Cody is a very well mannered dog even if he is a chessie.
Hey Dave. I took this shot yesterday while looking for a place to hunt the opener which is tomorrow, Tuesday. You might find more than a couple of baldpates in it.

I have pictures but this old fart still doesn't know how to post them. I have to thank Phil, Tom, Dave and especially Pete for taking care of me, feeding me, tucking me in and how to clean ducks. I didn't want to wake them when I departed Sundayj. After 75 years I again hunted Goose Island and they made it fun.

Looked like a good time. I would have liked to come up but I was sunny Florida after a dismal opening weekend. Well I shouldn't say it that way. Mark Spolarich brought his son to the blind for his first turn at hunting Illinois and I got to see him splat is first Woodie ever! The dismal part was the adult shooters that forgot how to shoot...LOL Anyway this was our view.
Thanks Dave
Not the clearest but it gives you a general picture of the group and their equipment. The red truck and boat is Dave's, the white camper and boat is Phil's, the black truck and boat Pete's and the last one is Tom"s. I used just a regular camera (you all remember them .

Glad someone was on the ball with a camera, yes I do remember cameras. Film to the drugstore and all. Thanks for taking these and to Dave for getting them posted. Gee my boat looks small.
Boz and Dave,
I used some scrap materials and made a hold area for the decoys under the middle folding deck.
6 1/2 doz decoys in the 45" x boat wide hold.
