I had one a few years ago. It's not a bad boat but you need to realize it's limitations. It's good for calm protected waters. The floor flexes a bit and it has a flat bottom. It does not draft much water so getting into shallow creeks is where it would be best suited for use. Not something I was comfortable in using in open bays or any kind of chop. It just was not enough boat for me.
If you not going to be in big water it would be fine and can hide well.
Great marsh boat or small river boat but like John stated NOT an open water boat in my opinion either. I had for one season. I wanted it for the Mississippi River backwaters. Doesn't like waves much and the floor flexing was an issue even with 1'-2' white caps. The boat isn't very wide and if you were to take a good wave over the bow or side. Well that's a lot of water that's now inside of the boat. Just realize it has limitations and you'll be fine.
Thanks John and Ed. I hunt in protected marshes in southwest louisiana. The hull flex is a big concern. While i do hunt the protected marsh, i am no fool and know that once i get a boat i will want to go to other places. So maybe this isn't the boat for me.
I bought a used Canvasback this spring. It has been camoed over with netting and has a 6.5 mud motor on it. I love it. It will go in alot of places that I could not access before. Yes the floor does flex but it is not an issue. I have found it to be a very sturdy boat. Probably the best boat purchase I have made.
