Carstens Puddler or ?????

Hi guys,do any of you guys use a puddler as a layout boat? Im looking to use in on a lake and I already have a tender for it . Im looking at a boat like this because Id also like to be able to paddle it in the swamp with it too. Or any other suggesttions on something under $1000. Maybe you guys have some pictures of yours you can post or PM me? Thanks in advance.

If 1000 is your budget I would look at the Momarsh DP. I had a Puddler but it was too small and no place to put a trolling motor. Got a DP and I love it.

Depending on the size of the lake safety may come into consideration and you would want to get a real layout. Get a used MLB.

Nothing is perfect and multi use boats usually are okay at a few things and good at nothing...

If you are looking at $1000... get a MLB! You mentioned that you have a tender... therefore I assume you are using it as a real layout. I picked 1 up for $900 and for $700....

Based on your desire to use one for dual purposes, I'll second the recommendation of the Mormarsh DP. What you describe is exactly what this boat is designed for, sounds like a perfect match for you. Note* You would have to find a used one to stay under budget tho.

I will 3rd the recommendation on the Momarsh DP. I love mine, and a friend saw it and liked it and managed to find one under $1k used. I just used it as open water layout today for the first time and it worked like a charm. Not a terribly great boat to paddle though, but fine with an electric motor.

Momarsh Fatboy DP gets my vote as well. Great profile, good room in the cockpit and stable enough to stand on the aft deck while poling. Only downside...Not easy to paddle in any wind except the lightest breeze.
