Last year I offered to bring some carving stock down to the westlake show and quite a few guys took me up on the offer.
I have already made arrangements with quite a few of you guys to bring wood down but I wanted to make one public post about it as well in case anyone else was interested.
Last year I started selling carving blocks over the internet as a way to offset the costs associated with carving. Other sell off a few decoys but this has worked for me. Because of the stock required to do that as well as supply my own carving obsession I won't have any additional cedar available. However I do have a new mill that started cutting cedar for me that has a large stock of dry clean white pine so if anyone is interested in that I would be glad to ferry it down from the tundra for you.
The white pine is quite dry and is 2.50 a board foot so a so a stick of 2"x8"x8 feet is $27.00 a stick if 3"x8"x8 feet is $41.00.
There is also some quite large pieces of white pine 12" or more wide and 3" or more thick its all been drying for 20 years. Its goose size stuff. It will be 3.50 a board foot. If someone is interested in that I can see what specific sizes are available.
Just drop me a PM if your interested. Ill be going to the mill early next week to pickup all the wood. Everything will be cut down to 4' lengths to make it easy for me to transport. I don't plan to bring any extra wood along this year just what people have arranged in advanced.
