Babe Winkelman's fishing show is on Fox Sports Midwest right now; they are in Canada fishing from a cool wooden boat. looks like maybe cedar strip construction. Where can I find plans for a boat like that?

Is it a canoe, or some other type of boat? Newfoundland Boatworks has some interesting strip-built boats and plans. Have you looked at Chesapeake Light Craft?

Wasn't a canoe. Looked like maybe 16ft, with 3 seats and a motor.

I googled "cedar strip fishing boat", but the sites you mentioned didn't make the first couple pages. I will check them out.

When I was a kid we owned a cedar strip boat. They were very common back then. I will see if I can find any pictures to scan. I know there are some 8 mm movies of it.

HMMMM! 8mm movies? Now that is "OLD"!

I'll chime in with an 'Amen' for the Giesler boats. I bought a 'Lake Nipissing' model last summer to use to access an island property in Lake Ontario. Great boat - goes great with a 25 hp motor, carries a huge load, safe in waves, beautiful to boot. Gerry Giesler was a pleasure to deal with. And an unbelievable price. Literally a fraction of a similar sized aluminum hull. Couldn't be happier.
My one 'problem' is that I am constantly getting stopped at the marina by people who want to ask about the boat. It is like walking a puppy in the park, but instead of being accosted by pretty young blondes, it is salty middle-aged sailer types...
All the best,
Dan

In action last fall.
(Oh - and please accept that I am passing that cushion to my wife, not smacking my daughter with it...!)
