Cold weather heating things up

Had a great hunt today with my buddy John. Set up in the dark again in a spot we knew we could get out of with this west wind emptying the bay. By shooting time the black ducks and Mallards were coming in and cupping 15-20 yards away.. Got our limit of blacks and I got my first Drake Mallard which im having mounted.. Great action today and awesome just watching the ducks commit to our decoys.. Hope the cold weather sticks around..

That is sweet! Congratulations on a great hunt and also on getting that first (of many hopefully), greenhead, Rich! I enjoyed your story and really hope your wish of cold weather continues. I'll send you some extra if you need some. Guess you will have to wait because this week it will be in the middle to high 50sF.

Looks like a great hunt. I used to live in Blue Point, Clammed from 64 to 80, then moved to florida. I was up there in Sept. saw a lot of my old friends, bought a bunch of old decoys in an antique shop on Main Street. Still have salt water from the Great South Bay running through my veins. Where is that launching ramp? where you hunting the north side of the bay? I hunt North Dakota every fall and here in Florida each winter, but I still dream of gunning Long Island like we did as kids. Thanks for the memories, Rich

Congrats on your first drake mallard.
I'll be hunting from that ramp tomorrow morning.

Congrats on the mallard! My Dad, brother and I also limited out on blacks saturday morning. Had a good day out there.
