d Iron...Planer on ebay Kansas City

Those show up fairly reguarly on the bay. If I were in the market for a larger planer, and will be once I get a real shop, I'd look for a Powermatic 160 or bigger. The PMs are a bit stouter and the wedgebeds have an issue withe the cutterhead bearing seat according to the experts that shows up from time to time. On the flipside they do have a smaller footprint and I've heard they provide more cuts per inch meaning smoother finish.

Speaking of PM planers. Jeff Smith recently picked up ANOTHER PM planer, a 221 20". His rotary phase converter is about ready to feed the 7.5 hp motors that drive them.

That rig looks like the one we had in wood shop class in high school. Boy I bet those tools are working hard in some guys shop now that it is not fashionable to teach kids how to use things to make stuff.
They auctioned off all the equipment in the Fully stocked metal shop and the woodworking shop to build a computer lab.

That's sad too... I have worked in computers for over 10 years now and there's nothing I love more than working with my hands. My days in jr. high and high school wood shop class are some VERY FOND memories. While I understand the importance of teaching computers, I think it's equally important to teach wood and metal shop.
