I finally have got around to looking through some of my pictures from my Manitoba trip. This year was tougher then normal for us there was high water on the lakes meaning the Sago beds were not there for the Canvasbacks this year.
Out of the four of us on the trip three of us carve so the Canvasback hunt became something special for the group. Each caver worked on Cans for the trip to add to the lines. Lots of fun and I tried to get pictures of each carvers decoys.
I thought you guys would enjoy seeing a few of the pictures. I have some of our puddle rigs as well but Ill have to add those later.
String of my old diver rig. Beat battered and still in service.
The back hen is mine
Andrew Menz carved three of these Cans.
Two Ward style of mine.
Sleeper in front is mine the one in the back is an unknown carver owned by Doug Gradin.

Ward style of mine on the left and Doug Gradin's on the left. Doug's is a cool story. We hunted Lake Superior a few years back with his Daughter. He picked up a piece of drift wood (timber) at the end of the hunt. he dried it out and it appeared to be cedar so he carved these flatty bodies out of it along with heads that he got the blanks from Rutgers a few years ago. He has only carved around 5 decoys and his skill level is impressive he has true natural talent.
Andrew's in the front again.
This old Can was sitting on a shelf along with many other old Manitoba decoys. We have looked at them each year. Well this year it went for a swim and I have to tell you it looked a heck of a lot happier after it got to hunt again. Beat battered shot it had had quite a history if only it could talk. We all wished we knew the stories so we decided to add on more.
