Decoy storage?

It's time to clean up the mess I call a garage here. In seasons past I left a number of our decoys in a friends shed. This year it seems like most of our rig is home and rather than haul it down to my friends I'm gonna put most of the stuff in the attic.

Anyone have any horror stories about storing stuff in the attic during the hot summer? Sea ducks are burlapped herters, divers are e. allen and burlapped herters. Cork birds will be stored on shelves in the carving cave. Goose and brant rig is partially plastic....This is where I forsee a problem. G&H and herters Plastic. Do you think I'll have a problem?

no problem with the plastoids...

issues with cork painted birds...heat makes the paint sort of soft and if they are stuck to one another they will "weld" together. But I realize you have the cork figured out already, just adding that.

But the junk ones, they are fine. Well, for me I never had a problem.

Dave,

I don't know where you live or how hot your attic gets and that will make a difference.

I am in Al. and have had the plastic keels on decoys "relocate" and harden back up in a different place while stored in the attic. I've quit storing them up there.

I'm in MD and the attic will get as hot and humid as anywhere.

I've seen plastics do that keel thing.

thanks,

D

No problem with heat, but I did have a bunch of carpenter ants chew up close to a half dozen herters foamers in the "duck shed"
