Delta Waterfowl Youth Decoy Contest...

Worth - nice job on this! I appreciate your spirit to encourage these young ones to experience our craft. I hope we see some young Elmer Crowells and Joe Lincolns come from this group. It would be a good thing for carvers of this forum to encourage youth they know to enter this. They are our future waterfowlers...

Pat, Thanks for the kind words. I am really looking forward to this. And some young carver will end up with a really nice shotgun. But the notice from Delta didn't mention that I am giving a large trophy for 2nd and 3rd place. Also, it was suggested on this page that all that enter should get something. So I have large ribbons that will go to everyone who doesn't win the first 3 places. It should prove interesting how many send decoys. I have hopes this will become a yearly contest. If so, next year the species will be a black duck. Best, Worth Mathewson

Woody, You bet. Delta has many members in Canada. Glad you might know a youth with an interest. Good luck to him or her. However, if someone from Canada wins first place, I might have some issues getting the gun to them. But we will worry about that if and when the time comes. Best, Worth Mathewson

To add to what Worth shared, Delta's foundation was impacted by decoy carvers, notably, Dr. Miles Pirnie. Peter Ward was also an excellent decoy painter painting many of the famed Duncan Ducharme decoys of the Delta Marsh.

Worth, great contest.

Pat, thanks for posting. I added a.link to the calender in the stickies.

Best
Chuck

PS I might have to take a drive south of town and check under some rocks, haven't heard from the Earl.of Hopkinsberg lately, be cool to see the Rat Pack get in on this

Worth,

Thank you very much for letting me know that are Canadian youth can compete. I will get the word out and we will go from there. Again thank you very much.
