Well Gents, if you were not in attendance,,,,,,,,,,, you missed a good time and some even better food.

Steve is getting the stove ready to heat up a few beans. Which were very good BTW.

Turned out to be a few selections of sausage, cheese and crackers available for ones choosing.

PIES, yes APPLE PIE, a couple different apple pies in fact. George Goodsell showed up with a pie made of fresh picked PEACHES from the tree in his back yard. Yummm,,,, and they all slid down real well when topped with a scoop of ice cream.

I believe most of the dogs present were well aware of the food also. I know Otto kept making the rounds looking for another handout. This is either Phil's dog Kodiack or Pete's dog Otto, making sure Phil does not spill anything on the way to the shelter.

Oh, there were a few boats to be looked at also. :>) :>)

Every one enjoyed a good meal and did some catching up with friends that had not been seen since last year. Fourteen or fifteen fellas were in attendance with several of them being this their first year. It was nice to be able to add a face to familiar names from the duck boat page.

I have added the pictures Steve Horswell posted below; Thanks for taking additional pictures Steve.

Thanks for the update Dave...couldn't make it this year. Looks like Brian made it up from Illinois again with his BB3.

The Lacrosse get-together was excellent! As Dave's pictures show, there was plenty of good food and numerous duckboats to look over. Best of all was the comradely of all those present. Thanks to everyone for letting me examine your boats and for the ideas you shared. However, a special thanks goes to Rick for getting things set up, to Dave for the ice cream and performing emcee duty, and to Pete for the over-sized apple pie. I only ate one piece and managed to get filled up---of course, the piece was about 14" long.

I will post some additional pictures in the next few days.

Great pictures Dave thanks for posting. My first one but hopefully not my last. I enjoyed meeting everybody plus the dogs, boats and food... neil

Looks like I missed a good time. Otto get my piece of pie did he? Phil, your boat shrank! Pete the pole boat looks great. Did you put the black slick'em on the bottom of the pole boat too? Brian, is that your boat with the dodger? That looks sharp. Who's boat is on the canoe carrier. Is it a Devlin boat?

Take care,

Ed L.

Dave, Thanks for posting the pics. Yes it was a great time as always. Nice to meet new guys and share with old friends. This is one that I plan on keeping on the calendar. So many good ideas and craftsman work. Everyone out there have a good season now that we have had our pre season tune up.

Hi Ed,

Yep, I put the the slick epoxy on the bottom of the Poleboat. I took it out after the gathering and it poled through the marsh real nice. The coating is 9x-2000, teflon loaded epoxy from Fasco in Florida.

The boat on the canoe carrier is a Zack Taylor designed sneak box that Steve Horswell made. Steve is quite a craftsman - he made the Busick layout boat as well.

Hi Steve,

I'm glad you and Neil made the trip, it was great to meet both of you. Your boat building skill is quite evident - thanks for coming. I hope we'll see you again.

I am sure glad I got the chance to make this years event! It was a pleasure to meet everyone and I wanted to thank everyone for a great time! I really enjoyed being able to poke around and look at all the different boats and talk to everyone about their build. Its sure nice to get to see different boats in person and not just pictures.

Some awesome decoys were present, Im very amazed at the skill that is involved in turning out decoys like that! Seeing those decoys and talking with you guys about carving really got me excited to start and try doing my own. Hey Dave, maybe in the future Ill be able to donate a decoy for the raffle.

Thanks everyone and good luck this season!

I really wanted to make the trip down this year. My family and I are in for next year and I will even bring the new boat. I did spend a considerable amount of time working on the new boat this weekend so hopefully that is in the spirit of the gathering.

Were there any decoys brought along for show and tell?

I sure hope you can make it next year. Yes, there were some decoys for show and tell. Dave McCann had a few and I have to say he's been practicing behind our backs because they look real good. Also Steve Froelich (sp) from the Mpls area had a table full that he was rightly proud of. I especially liked his common eider, coot and a terrific drake pintail. I didn't take any pics but I'm sure someone did.

To All, just got home a few minutes ago,Got home with no problems! It was great getting together with everyone and meeting new people as well,Great food, good fellowship, and alot of boat and hunting talk, will post some pics later this week,Im ready for next year! Brian

Your the man Brian, Looking forward to more pictures. Couldn't make it this year. I am feeling better each day. I just graduated from Cardiac Rehab. I am feeling better than I have for a couple of years.

I missed seeing some of the boat builders and decoy carvers and meet some of the new folks.

Now Ed L. couldn't make this year either. Florida is a long ways away. I wish him well in his new project. Hybridizing Mallards and Gators together is not a easy thing to do. Ed is persistent though. Mallards will breed with any thing I am told. Well it works in Ill. but the Gators can't stand the cold so you have to go to Florida. The problem down there the Gators are a little to fast for the Mallards....If any one can figure it out Ed can..

Sorry to have missed this get together. I figured since I was invited to go Silver Salmon fishing in Seward Alaska that I'd be forgiven for my absence. Here's a photo of one I caught this past weekend.

Forgiven???????? with a reply like that????? curses to you instead for not taking us along.

Nice fish BTW, (I'd have made the same choice) glad you enjoyed yourself in the little corner of the world you spent your weekend.

Pete,

Glad to hear your doing well. Here's a little tidbit. A fellow I've met here is from Vermont. He lives in an area called Gulfport which as far as I can see is part of St. Petersburg. You can't tell where one town ends and the next starts. Anyway he tells me there are more people in the county he lives in than the entire state of Vermont.

Here's a story. My wife was coming home from work one day and while she was driving on one of the main rush hour streets everyone came to a screaching hault. She said she couldn't figure out what was going on until she noticed everybody looking in one direction. Then she saw it. She said a 4 to 5 foot gator was crossing 6 lanes from a retention pond on one side of the street to another on the other side of the street. It's funny, I've seeen gators and ducks in the same pond and neither give each other a thought.

Take care,

Ed L.
