Dyeing Fast grass

Looking for some input. The fast grass is to light in color for the area I hunt and I need to darkin it up.
I found a exterior stain for wood decks that sure would match up or should I just paint it with a rattle can
and be done with it. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

For fast grass I would paint it for the first season. It does not dye that well. Not nearly as easy to color as raffia.

For the second season I would leave it out, stomp with mud, but do not let it rot in the process. It looks better once it gets a little ratty from being outside.

Yep, they arent kidding. Its a technique.

Just leave it exposed to the weather and it will darken.
Or wet it down & then let it dry, repeatadly. Just dont let it stay damp or it will rot.

if its the real fast grass ,just soak it with the hose, roll it up wet, store in a cool place out of the sun ,mine turned dark in one week then I let it dry out and installed it on my boat, came out great!

Use Minwax spray polyshades. It is wood stain and poly mix.orks great and you can get this in a few different shades.

I had a fastgrass blind on my old boat, misted it with Rustoleum dark brown flat camo paint to darken it, then added some John Deer green highlights because our marsh stays pretty green for most of the season. If you dry this stuff well after each hunt it will last for years. By the way this setup was deadly and is in its fourth year, just a lot more bulkier than my present mud buddy camo blind material peppered with winter wheat green raffia grass. Rich.

Just for info sakes. I supply the local duck boat builder dudes with RIT DYE Liquid in
BLACK, Brown and Green and they mix it in tubs and dye all of their grass it
comes out FLAT like natural grass. Dye is cheap just wear gloves.

If all else fails.... Let your dog pee on it. I'll guarantee that change the color...cheap too. environmentally sound too, go green.
