Here is a E Allen spoonie I just finished for a benefit dinner for Mike "Big Guy" Keller.

Looks GOOD Mark! All this E-Allen stuff makes me want to actually finish painting mine! How is that textured? Did you do a base layer of gesso mixed with something? Maybe sawdust? How do I do that?
 
chris, don't use sawdust for texture. use texturing paste mixed with gesso. i use the liquitex modeling paste i think.
That plus a comb will give that nice vermiculation that mark pulls off. if you ever want to learn to paint quick, nice
gunners, buy Lou's drake video. It's cheap and worth every penny. He'll have you painting several species quickly and you'll be saying "geesh i was making this harder than it is"

Mark.. you my friend are getting too good :) I swear, one of these days i'll make it north of here to meet you finally.

It's a benefit for his wife and kids who are still trying to get all of his bills paid offand, put some money back for the kids school. That's my understanding. The dinner will be late this summer in Kansas City somewhere. Check with Rogers sporting goods in Liberty and I'm sure they'll know the details.
 
Thank god somebody else has been dubbed spooniemeister other than me. I thought i was never going to live down closing day.
 
.......and.....yes, I'd definitely be proud to drop shot on it. I've been a fan of your painting for some time now. Excellent job.
