Early northern migration.

Lotta birds on the water. It's been so seasonable that the lake I live on in NY has seen an a huge number of birds. We had ice for a week maybe two, with the lake being generally open for most of the winter. At the very least there has been about three hundred canadas wintering here and in the past week that number may have doubled. Mallards are loading in maybe 75 to 100 and yesterday about 100 ring necks piled in with a smattering of buffleheads. This amount of transient birds is easily a month plus earlier then usual. It's been quite the show. Those noisey honkers are up at all hours. I guess next fall I'll have to harvest some since I have laid off the canadas for years now...but it's getting hard to get a good nights sleep now all that racket just outside my window.

Alot of the songbirds down this way have been bunching up the last week & pulling out.

Was out in the marsh this week picking up some boats & saw loads of teal, probably coming back from the islands.

Maybe we'll get on'em next season if the Mayan calander resets!!!

Its been about twenty years since i've seen snows here. Theres an extended family of whistler swans that live here and I guess at last count there's up to 15. Plenty of woodies, teal and mallards during the warm months. Lastly a good sized flock of canadas base outta ere. Today there were more birds on the lake then I have ever seen.

The weather was overcast wet and frozen mix today...but maybe tomorrow I can get out for some more photos.

Here's a couple of the swans.
