Editor Fired

I got a call from Wildfowl Magazine the other day that Jay S. was fired. As some might know, that was very good news to me and more than several other writers. Not sure at this point who they will name as new editor. I really wish they would approach Roger Sparks to take over again. Roger was the best editor I have ever dealt with. More than that, he is a very good waterfowler. He knows, and he has been there. Worth Mathewson

Worth,

This is good news. I let my subscription expire; maybe they can change my mind. I recall fondly your writings in Wildfowl. Thanks for the news.

Worth,

Like a lot of guys I let my subscription lapse a long time ago. I still buy it off the shelf once in a while to see if there's any improvemnt and look and the advertising in the back. After reading Novembers editorial I thought to myself....If this is the best you can think of to write about, if the best time of the hunt for you is getting into a warm pickup truck because you're cold, give it up and go home. Find another hobby. We all get cold but this isn't what I pay money to read about in a hunting magazine.

Maybe the new guy will make me want to subscribe again.

Take care,

Ed L.

Worth,
Good news for sure. I let my subscription lapse a few months ago after having subscribed for 20 years. All of the stories were the same product pitches by endorsement whores. Maybe I will subscribe again if writers like you get onboard. Thanks for the update.

I use to pick up a Wildfowl every now and then, mostly for your articles. I don't even look through them at the store since you no longer write for them. I hope whoever is hired that it is someone you can work with.

Worth,
That is good news.
I too would like to see Roger back at the helm. I advertised with them for years, starting in '87. When they kept changing owners and editors........I walked away from them.
It would be nice to see the mag make a comeback.

Hopefully they can make a turnaround to their former self. Have seen a steady decline in that publication over the past 5-6 years. Really miss Worth's articles.

Darn, I guess I won't be able to submit the article I wrote where I go goose hunting and pass shoot two geese from a fencerow. Oh well.
