epoxy over gelcoat?

I have a four rivers layout boat and wanted to fill in some large gouges in the bottom of the boat. The boat has a gelcoat on it and my question is can I apply epoxy over the gelcoat without any adverse effects.

Epoxy ove gelcoat is fine for cosmetic, but not structural repairs. So it seems like you are fine.

i know that there is such thing called gelcoat paste i have used it for my fishing boat color match mixes in and its sandable and easy to use.
