I always enjoy taking new hunters out for a day on the water but it's always special when its with friends or family members.
My daughter has been hunting with me for years and asked if she can take her boyfriend Nick along. We took him out twice last year so he can see what waterfowling it is all about. He had a lot of fun just being an observer and made the commitment to take his hunters safety classes this past summer and now has his license. He comes from a home where there are no outdoorsmen /women in the family and certainly no guns in the house. I know , very odd family, lol. Needless to say when he comes along with us it is always a new experience for him. He has been around our family now for over seven years and we are always introducing him to new things be that food or fun. I remember when my kids were very young and I love to watch them discover new and different things.
Now, many years later I find myself with that same enjoyment as I watch a new outdoorsmen grow. Nick is a good kid and has been coming out with us for several years boating, fishing, hiking and now hunting. Watching the look on his face as he discovers all these first time experiences is a nice feeling. Just thought I would share this new hunters first duck with you all because I know, like myself we all like to see the smile on a new gunners face after their first successful harvest.
So here is Nick with his first bird, a beauty of a Mallard and the first of many more to come.
