Florida's finest

Today started out gloomy and very wet. We had several long hard downpours so the gun got cleaned and the camera stayed in bed for most of the morning, but it ended as another fun filled day in Florida’s finest marsh. We had a few fast flying visitors to add to the variety today. Ismail managed to whack one with his 3 inch no 4 steel.

We dug in deep this morning finding a little pot hole back in the thick stuff. This time out it was Scott’s scouting that did the trick. Scott shown here at the helm of HitchCraft-1.

Snipeshooter himself; Ismail, 81 years young, swings another limit of Blackbelly and Teal, and of course the bonus bird.

The sun popped out just long enough for a few burial photos.

And my bag for the morning along with Ismail's little tasty treat. Blake... I believe a few of these will be in the mail at the end of the season, heading your way.

So far the super top secret spot that everyone seems to know about is outperforming Argentina in quality. I remind myself everyday as I thank God for this great place we have; to enjoy it now, and take care of it for the future.

esp. of the birds in flight. Im over in Naples visiting with my inlaws for the holiday. I was thinking of you when I flew in over the Big Swamp to get here. What a place to hunt waterfowl. I sure hope I can drag myself out when I am in my 80's. Have a great Christmas. Looks like you are on your way with a day like that.

Thanks Bob,

If your gonna be down for awhile, drive on over. We always have an extra seat on the airboat, and a spare gun.

hey hitch got a question a little off topic. how does that motor cover effect the airflow to the prop? and can you post some more detailed pictures showing how you have it mounted?

I doubt it affects it much, certainly no more than the radiator below. It's a necessity though. Scott has the airboat right now. His is down for repair, so I'll shoot some photos when he get's it back to me.

very nice hitch, ive been seeing the pics for a while now and wondering ifn you were putting some the the teal and whistlers in the freezer..........

I think I'll be sending the Fulvous, the Bluewing on the left and the Blackbelly in the middle. All are near perfect. The Bluewing's wing feather's are perfect... both wings. Not as much white on the back of the head, but I'm hoping to shoot one more this year to come with him. The BB is a superb drake with the fluffy head. The Fulvous has one bone in one wing shot through but not breaking the entire wing bone. The feathers cover it though. The Fulvous has the nice racing stripes and a dark head stripe; nice drake too. Have you done whistlers?

sounds good hitch, i have done fulvous and white faced. never got my hands on a bb before.there all the same anatomy wise so i spect i can make them turn out presentable.

there`s always a hitch somewhere doing great things ,im glad we have our hitch with us as its always entertaining thanks a bunch hitch

I'm sure you'll do a wonderful Job Blake. Do they make forms and heads specifically for Blackbellies? The bill kinda has a goose shape to it.

Merry Christmas

hitch, they do make them but depending on the condition of the actual bills on the birds sent, i may cast the originals off of them.i dont have molds of those two species as i dont mount many.on most species, as they come in and depending on condition, i will make a master mold of the original to keep for future use.
