Mr. Bartlett, Thank you! My plans for her are for preservation/ restoration. I rescued her from a burn pile . I would love to gun from her but her keel is in disrepair. The rest of her is solid as a rock but still needs attention. My gunning partner owns a spot over on Wigwam Bay and wants to put her in his lodge collection and we can work on her at our leisure. I’ve gunned from sneaks, and most other ways one can gun and truly enjoy it. The history of things is really what enamored me though. As soon as I saw her I knew she was special. A lady whose ex husband left it in her yard was 24 hours from dropping a match on her. Thank you again!Hello BigB,
If you're asking who the boat belonged to, I have no idea.
But if you are asking what kind of boat it is, then I have your answer:
That's a traditional Great Lakes sneak boat, used for open-water diver duck hunting.
That one was built by Miley Smith, who built a ton of them.
That outboard bracket on the end was not on all of his boats. I was told by an original owner that when he bought his boat, the outboard bracket was a $15 option.
Do you have the sneak shield for it?
You'll need one if you plan to do any sneak hunting, which you really should do!
I had a sneak boat (in this case, built by Pecore Fox) for almost 20 years before my son and I actually tried sneak hunting with it.
After the first time, we did almost nothing but sneak hunting for the next ten seasons.
And during that time, I also accumulated three more sneak boats, for a total of four; two by Miley and two by Fox.
Edit to add:
Never mind the question about the sneak shield. I can see one sitting in the bottom of the boat.
