Headed east today to the LI decoy collectors annual show. They had a great display of decoys and other antique sporting collectables. I picked up a book "Duck Decoys" How to Make Them,How to Paint Them, How to Rig Them by Eugene V. Connett...1953, cool book. Here are a few pics from today. Sorry about the quality, I am not a good photographer. The first couple are some Shang Wheeler birds

Hey Kevin,

Lenny called me a few hours ago. Said that he did well at the show. I think that he sold a few decoys. I bought a mini pintail from him that I haven't picked up yet so I told him to bring it to the show and put sold on it so he can show more stuff. He said that he could have sold it 3 times today. I told him that he just should have and carved me another one. He has this awesome standing Black duck. More of a gunning style in a semi feeder position...really cool.

I plan on burning the whole day at Parkertown and just hang out for the whole day. I am sure that I will see you there.

Great pictures. That Connett book is great too. A friend gave me a copy and that's how I started out making decoys.

Hey Charlie, Sorry i missed you. I was there for 1/2 hour or so. I was hoping to see a tackle dealer there. I had to get the Windy ready to fish today, my son the mate and I were down at the boat at 3:00 am only to have a no show. I'm really pissed. I'll catch up with you.

Great pics Charlie! I love the corks and the pics of the old time gunners in their rigs. I have a copy of Connett's book and have studied it extensively. The old masters have much to offer us. More carvers should study their work. They went through the same learning and struggles we go through as carvers and mastered it. Thank you for sharing your goodness! God bless!!

It's a pretty neat show. I have not been in a few years. Thanks for sharing the pics, I love that old stuff, now I kind of wish I made the trip from CT.

I beg to disagree, Charlie. Those are some very nice pictures! Enjoyed the nostalgia involved within this show.

Love the old pictures and dekes Charlie.
I had to break out Duck Shooting along the atlantic tidewater.
The stories in it by Connett are among my favorites.
Thanks for the Good stuff , John
