Mark and I are wanting to raffle off a duck hunt on our farm to benefit DHBP. It would be this fall. Lodging and meals would be included. Our preference would be to do a teal/ rail combo hunt. There would also be the possibility of doves and snipe. We should have super teal habitat this fall.

Question is, how much interest would there be in this type of hunt versus a hunt during the regular season? Opinions?

What time frame for the teal hunt? I'm interested! I would love a chance to hunt with you guys.

Just for "grins and giggles" I'll also bring the TOP HATS for the Rail Gunners so all we hear in the marsh is "DAR HE" and "ES IS"....instead of "OWwwwwww....you shot me"!!!!

Assuming we are offered a teal season from the Feds, a 16 day season would most likely open Sept. 8- 23rd and a 9 day season being Sept. 8 - 16th. Snipe, Dove, Rail all open on the 1st of Sept. The opportunity for rails would be greater after the 9th as an adjacent state area would be open to hunt them after the opening weekend of teal season.

There could also be the added benefit of some manual labor as we could have an additional 4,000 trees to plant and may not have them all in by then!hehehehehehehe
We(I say that, as I skipped out on two of the three work days. The first day I was planting sunflowers so I can kind of count that day. Ira and his bro worked all three) planted 10,000 trees this weekend. I'm glad that isn't a yearly event!!!

Sutton I'll bring a can of whitewash so you can have a proper boat!

The chance to hunt with Ira and Mark, and see Sutton pole a railboat? Hell, to have the chance to try poling a railboat?

Uhhhh...hellyeah.

Hunt for one or two? If two, I could bring Sweetwife...let her smack some tealies and rail. Or doves...she loves to shoot some doves...

I,m in. Just to get to see the hydrology work you guys have been doing. The season does not matter. Would be a blast to get to come on down and watch the birds work in a project like that.
Lets get the bidding started.
 
Cool, sounds like we have some interest in an early season thing. We will get the details of the raffle and the timeframe coordinated with the powers that be.

Not to worry Eric. Nobody will think it was rigged if you let me pull the winning ticket. ( 'course it won't be your ticket ,hehe)
