He's the same guy that wrecked my Harli's and Ge, but I think he did a good job on the sheep. Sheep are his thing for sure. I love it. I look at it and think about how fun it was to hunt with Jud and the boys. We're doing that again for sure.
The sheep has more black hairs in it than I remembered, mostly around the eyes.
Mac wrote an essay for the Fish and Game Association contest. I thought you guys might get a kick out hearing the story from his perspective. I fixed up his spelling and stuff, but the story is his.
My Sheep Hunt

I went on an amazing fly-in sheep hunt this year with my dad and my friend Marcus and his dad, Jud. I’ve never been sheep hunting before, but I have hunted moose and caribou with my dad since I was 5. When we were flying in Jud spotted 5 rams on a hill. We got in at about 7 p.m. Saturday, 3 days early to do some spotting. We woke up early Sunday morning to do some spotting. We hiked all day and saw 2 ewes and 1 lamb. We also saw 4 rams and we watched them for a while from a little knob. We walked on to the other side of the knob to see if there was anything. Then we saw about 30 ewes and lambs and we looked across to another hill and saw about 60 ewes and lambs with a spotting scope. We sat down for lunch, and watched the sheep. After lunch we walked back to the other side of the knob. When we got to the other side of the knob, Jud and Marcus went way off to another knob and me and my dad went back to camp. When Jud and Marcus got back, they said that there was not 4 rams but there was 14 rams!
Monday the weather was bad but the rams we saw on the way in showed up in the valley we were camped in. The rams came close enough to see with the spotting scope so well that Jud watched them all day. We played cards in the tent. When Jud was watching the sheep he noticed that 3 of the rams were legal, and one was really nice.
Tuesday we got up at about 4:30 a.m. It was a frosty morning and cold and we had to walk up a steep hill. When we got to the top we had a bite to eat. We walked along the top of the hill and saw 4 ptarmigans. When we stopped for lunch Jud spotted 16 ewes and lambs. After lunch Jud spotted 3 ewes and we thought that those ewes might be closest to the rams. We were going to start heading back when my dad looked over an edge and saw sheep way down in the willows. My dad and Jud went closer with the guns. It was the 5 rams and some ewes together! Me and Marcus waited for our dads and we heard a bunch of shooting and Jud came back to say we had a ram down. It was about 10 a.m. opening day. After taking a bunch of pictures and cutting we loaded it into our packs and started back. We were very happy!
When we were coming back Jud found a small, old, sheep horn in the rocks. We filled our water bottles in a creek and were walking along a cliff above the lake, when my dad looked over the cliff and saw two rams. My dad slid down the cliff to try to shoot one of the rams who was lying in the willows by the lake. When he was sneaking through the willows a ptarmigan jumped up and scared my dad. A little storm came in and my dad couldn’t see the sheep until he was really close. He shot it in the neck as it laid there. He said he was only about 10 feet away. We cut it up and went back to camp.
The next day the plane came in and picked us up and flew us home. It was the best hunt ever.
My dad just got the mount back from the taxidermist and put it in the living room, but my mom says there is no way it is going to stay there. I think it looks great. ( I added that last line. )
