grassed the roy boat

Matt,
how do you guys sit that set up? I am seeing that the doors flip down to shoot? Are you on the cockpit floor or a stool.

Cool set up and very deadly looking.

thanks guys. ill just use a lay out seat on the raised floor and face the motor. i can sit up so that only my head sticks out. havent hunted this boat yet but that seems like the best way.

Bob, It depends on how you like to hunt. If gunning alone, you can layout and shoot over the stern in traditional BBSB fashion.

If gunning two guys you can set up port or starbord to the decoys and shoot broadsides by dropping the flap. I usually sit on a gunning stool or Bucket.

Both ways work well if you grassed good and have a proper set-up.

Matt,

Boat looks real good. Where did you get that bow setup with the double roller? I just got a Momarsh Fatboy and the revised design has made the boat to heavy for me to use a roof rack so I'm looking for a trailer. I like that design for capturing bow.

Take care,

Looks great! A couple of questions - what are the flip sides made from and what type of grass is that? THanks!

Hey Ed -

I can't recall if someone mentioned this on DBHF or if I came across it some other way. If you want to load the new Fatboy ontop of the vehicle, you might want to take a look at the Yakima Showboat. I just got a new vehicle (SUV type) and need to get the Hoefgen on top and found this to be of significant interest. Now I just have to determin if Yakima has the other stuff to work with my new vehicle.

The bow stop came with the boat trailer combo. I wish I could figure out where to get more because I could use them on other trailers. If anyone knows please inform us. The flaps are glass and the grass is a mixture of cabelas prairie grass sand and Avery killerweed all terrain. About 20 lbs of grass used

Best looking fake grass job ive ever seen! I noticed most guys from Jersey use fake grass instead of the real natural stuff, are their laws against grassing with natural grass?

No laws against it...it is just easier for some people to use the fake stuff you can zip tie it on and forget about it for a few years. Real grass will mildew or rot and need to be replaced sporadically. Dave

Scott,

That gives me and idea but I'm sure the wife won't go for it!

Mark,

I checked out the Yakima Showboat at the local "yak" shop tonight. That's a neat rig. I just wish they'd sell their stuff with one price rather than "by the way you 'll also need this and that". If you haven't bought one yet check out the price at West Marine. It'll save you some money based on the price a was quoted at the "yak" shop.

Take care,

Ed L.

I was just curious because 90% of people in my area on LI grass their boats every year with natural thatch like me. I may get that raffia grass stuff for my layout blinds.
