Grumman Sport Boat Oars

Just lucked into a old sport boat in excellent condition to add to the fleet. It will need oars and It's been 35+ years since I rowed one. Not much of a "oar formula guy" (usually to short) hoping someone could share their preference with me. I'm thinking 8 footers? My make a Ash set as I checked some online stores and got sticker shock.

Tried to search the site but couldn't find a link.

We still make all our oar's for punts and commercial fishing boats and use white ash for it's straight grain and bendability.
If you get yourself a good board about 9ft and trace out one oar then turn it around and trace the other way you get a set.
Not sure if you have a mill close by but I think I got my last board that was 10' long x 2x6 for about $10.

I hear you.......I've cut some ash about 18' long some 15 years ago for gunnels on a canoe I was building. Had a local mill cut it up and I still have 4 or 5 stickered and stashed away in my shop. Was saving for a trim on a soapstone wine rack system but my client went with cherry instead. Now I still have to decide how long to make them......
