The meal was excellent as always - bison stuff, moose chunks, deer roast, caribou something, and lynx kabobs. Oh and grizzly bear ham. It was all good. And a desert table big enough to kill an army of diabetics. Lots of prizes given away and Mac and Meg both got loot for their essays, than they drew for extra prizes for the entrants and Meg won $50 from the fish hook store! She also won a door prize of loot that she shared with Mac so between the two of them they got three loot bags and $75 worth of gift certificates. Marcus won a loot bag, a fancy first aid kit, and an Arctic Char. I taught Meg how to two step a bit and we were all home by 11. A splendid evening for us, and Jane stayed home and ate sushi in her fancy bath tub.
The kids' stories will be published in The Outdoor Edge magazine. I was sure proud to see them go up front and shake the presentor's hand in front of everyone.
If you have these kinds of things in your town I strongly suggest you get out to one. It is great fun.
