Ed I was reading a reply that you had to a post. You said that in Illinois it was unlawful to jump shoot ducks and that you had to have a minimum of 12 decoys. Where is this in the regs? I have never heard of this is this something new? I have read the regs over and over and dont see this anywhere. I sure hope your wrong because I have used less than 12 decoys on small ponds and jump shot ducks on creeks and ponds in the past.

There are some areas that have those site specific regulations, but that isn't something that is anywhere in the Waterfowl Regulations for IL as a stwatewide regulation.

I think your probably right that it might be site specific. I have looked over the regs and dont see anything that would indicate that it is statewide.

Mike and Ryan,

Thanks for bringing this up. In pools 16 and 17 where we have to draw every two years for a blind site the documentation we receive during the drawing, states we're required to use a minium of 12 decoys and we must build a blind and boat hide and hunt no further than 10 feet from the DNR stake which is placed at each available site. In these pools jump shooting is ilegal due the blind restrictions. I neglected to state that in my original post. I truly am sorry for that over sight and any confusion I added. Please chalk it up to a senior moment.

Here is a link to the Fed site in regards to other areas of Illinois and their restrictions if you find yourself hunting in other parts of Illinios.

Ed thanks for clearing that up, I thought as much. Those are the same rules that they have at the Chain-o-Lakes state park.
