Here's some eye candy Lee....

especially for us that always dreamed about a true 30 day Safari in a REAL camp-out enviroment with a PH and porters 'n all. Here's one of those OVER-THE-TOP type doubloe rifles (probably a 600 Nitro Expess, I hope) that the average Safari Junkie would kill for. A cased German Heym Double TWO barrel set with calw mounts for two Smidt Bender scopes. And look at that wood!

This would be fitting to have in your hands when your PH say's "the huge cape buffalo stands there staring at you....like you owe him money".

Take a look at what they did to the guns top lever, OH MY!

The brass pins at the end of each ear are the cocking indicators. An important thing to know when you are trying to cheat "Death in the tall Grass".

Yup, some real eye candy and I'd hate to even think what the price tag on this beauty would be..........Bill Gates would have to get a loan, I think.

just the claw mounts....(I had to say that twice cause its so stunning to me)...for the scopes would buy you (3) SBE2's...and those are likley the cheapest thing in the case....

Sorry I didn't respond sooner..I fainted when I opened the post. That is just too purty. Think you could buy a new Rolls with what that thing cost?

Realistically, whadaya think that gun would cost? Just a stab in the dark. 70 grand? Am I hopelessly naive? More? What say you?

Looked on Guns America but they didn't have anything to compare with this..dbl rifles started at about 7k and went up to about 70k for "collectables" This one is probably an auction gun for SCI and I would guess you're at about a third of what it would sell for. Look good on display in the "Africa" room of the guy that had the sea duck wall..wouldn't it?

Lee, I went to the Heym wedsite and they don't even mention prices since these guns are so much money that if you have to ask, you can't afford them. I would guess this gun cased as it is with the two barrels and the German scopes would run upwards of $150K.

This one is built on their standard "Safari" frame that is made for calibers up to .416 Rigby. Their really big gun is called the "Jumbo: and it calibers up to .600 Nitro Express and the gun weighs about 18 pounds otherwise it would probably dislocate your shoulder on the second shot.

I remember as a kid my dad would point out the double rifles in the early 1950's Stoeger Shooters Bibles...........they were the outrageous price of $750.00. BTW I still have my collection of Shooters Bibles going back to 1949. Now I am looking for the earlier ones for my colletion. If you hear of any let me know.

Dave

I'll keep my eye out for any pre 1949 for ya. Bought 4 years of American Rifleman , 1955-59 at a antique fair a couple years ago. I could only bring 1 mag in at a time to read cause they must have been stored next to a car exaust for 50 years.

Wow....
Dave you have done it again. When is it being delivered to your house?

It was just another one of those really lucky garage sales I happened to stop at. The widow said she always hated guns and asked me if I'd get rid of it for her. I told her that I'd do it for $25 and she said great and handed me a $100 bill and said keep the change....you look like such a nice boy, want some cookies and milk?

Now if you belive that........well?

Hahahaha!
