Those are a neat bunch of photo's. That pup of yours has got a lot of heart tugging in that honker that is nearly as big!

Nice 8 pointer you got there. I see you both are shooting some vintage Savage 99 lever actions. The one you have is been around awhile, it's got teh old CARTRIDGE COUNTER slot on the side of the receiver....COOL!

Again, great pic's.

Dave

Great eastern woods gun. I grew up near where Savage is now in Westfield. Bet a few deer have fallen to that pair. Are they 300 savage or 250 by chance? The pictures of family are spot on. To be able to hunt with your dad and have your daughter pull the dogs tail with a decoy box costume on are priceless. And all with hot water woods showers too.....what will they think of next at deer camp. Hope you have a great fall and good hunting for the rest of the season Shermie.

Dave Thanks dave the 99 are 300`s are family has had them back to as far as anyone can remember 3 generations for sure,i had to buy mine tho everyone was still huntin them, yes they all have [we own 3] have the cartridge counter which corresponds to the revolving rotary magazine. Now i think my 300 is older due to the fact the mag is made of steel and dads and gramps is brass maybe you could tell me why one is steel and not brass? I have gramps gun which was passed on to me by uncle Cage ,then he died of cancer a year ago Oct 1 and he passed it on to me ,I let my sister shoot her first buck with it as well last year.Sadly she passed away the week after on Nov 12.She died of some super bug thats going around pneumonia based resistant to antibiotics. So yes our 300`s have all the memories to last us to eternity ,i imagine there up there chasin that 8 point i sent there way in the big hunting grounds in the sky with a right big smile on there face.there loved and missed .Ill just have to keep sending them bucks to chase ,and have to show the kids how to carry on the family tradition ,dad calls his gun the meat gun sometime and other times he calls her matilda ,he sometimes says i think ill take ol`matilda out for a walk.he usualy gets one then.

thank you glad you enjoyed pics, its a 300 there are 3 in our family ,i have 2 and dad has the other.this has been so far the best year in a long time.thanks

You have had quite a year leading up to this one. Glad you are out in the woods and seeing game. The family connections you have to hunting are very deep. I am sure you and your kids will give those 99's plenty more history on your own.

im hoping my daughter will take it up, my sisters little fella well his dad was from ontario and he moved back 4 months after she passed away so i dought he will ever be back here.So i hope she does but its ok if she doesnt i try with the grandkids theres always hope,im the last kid that hunts from dads generation in the family of 18 uncles and aunts.so ifin Makayla takes it up ill be crying with pride, besides i have over 100 decoys for her to shoot over and 3 boats ,a ranger wheeler and the list goes on me thinks she cant help but get the huntin fever ,she asks when dads is coming home to ma she said when he gets a deer, got the deer, when dad is coming home whenits dark or when the tide comes in.when i come thru the door its daddy daddy did you shoot anything today?and she jumps up in my arms and bear hugs me and ask me to tell her the story of todays hunt.so i bettin she just may be a sportswoman after all ,,,,,

ps thanks

my daughter does the same thing with the decoys. she will carry them around all day or ride them around in her power wheels

Wow. I wish I had a place like that to stay on weekends. Great family and friends. Looks like great hunting. You are really blessed with sweet camp. Merry Christmas.

You are in like Flint; deer, ducks, dog, family, memories, improvised construction, all with photos. You're pulling all our strings now. Have you ever carved a deke or built a boat. That's all you left out.

Shermie,

Those are beautiful, funny, and just wonderful pictures!

I especially like your daughter in the box, and the pup with the HONKER.

I'll bet there's never a dull moment around your house. :)
